Right now, the rain is pounding on the roof and streaming down the windows, and I can't believe how different today is compared to yesterday. Springtime was in full effect yesterday and I was loving the sunshine. When I was walking in Woods Hole, I felt like the crocuses were calling out to me to take pictures of them- they're so vibrant! As I got closer, I noticed tons of bees, diligently collecting pollen. Photography makes me happy in so many ways, some big, and some small...for instance, in the first picture, I got lucky and captured three bees in focus in the same shot! Yes! I do realize I'm a photography nerd, and I'm okay with that :) If you look closely at the last picture of this series, you can see the pollen on the bee's little legs. Just thought it was cool and wanted to share. Happy Spring!
This past weekend, my family, a few friends and I participated in a fund raising walk for breast cancer patients. It is a beautiful course in Woods Hole, and we lucked out with the weather! My mom organizes a group of us to do this every year. If anyone lives in the area and would like to join in next year, it will be held the first weekend in April. There is a also a six mile run option.
Back to the blogging! Hooray! Tons of potential blog entries, all of which I will hopefully get to in the near future...let's start off with a super duper cutie pie - Sam: Seriously, how adorable can a baby get?! He seemed to like having his picture taken and kept throwing out all different kinds of expressions for me - what an adorable little model! These pictures were taken a few months ago. Luckily, we have another photo session for Sam and his family coming up when the weather gets a little better for outdoor pictures. I can't wait to see how much he's grown and changed! I'm really looking forward to that session and tons of other family portrait sessions that are just waiting patiently for nice weather :)
It is a cold, gray, slushy day on Cape Cod. These are the days I think of summer weather, and look forward to feeling sunshine on bare shoulders and feet, grilling dinner on a warm deck during a late sunset, and spending tons of time outside. The slideshow below has some pictures from one of the most fun family sessions we've shot, and is a reminder of the nice weather we have to look forward to in a few months. It plays quickly, so if you want to take your time checking out the pictures, you can scroll through the images one by one when the slideshow is over. Just a head's up- if you're at work right now, you might want to turn the volume down, because music plays with this slideshow.
I hope everyone had a fun and relaxing holiday! Clearly, this blog post is a day late, but yesterday we were busy opening presents, eating delicious food, and enjoying each other's company. Christmas dinner was Cape Cod style - baked stuffed shrimp. Yum. Then we played a fun round of Cranium. My dad's impression of Elvis was awesome! Alissa and our other sister Julie decorated gingerbread houses. They are so pretty- I had to post a few shots of them:
Or, another title could be: my most favorite flare shot yet! The sensational flare in this first picture is a perfect expression of the awesome chemistry between Kristina and Shawn. They have so much fun together and they're fun to be around! We walked all around Woods Hole finding great spots and beautiful light, and it's now one of my favorite places to shoot. Watch the slideshow to see a few more from the session and you'll see why! (p.s. Kristina and Shawn- thank you for being rockstars and climbing a tree!)
These kids have the life! Growing up on Cape Cod is the best! And they have fun moms that let them play in the ocean on a warm November day. This was such a fun shoot. Alissa and I planned to get together with a few of our friends to get pictures of their gorgeous children for Christmas cards. We figured we would bring everyone together to the same place, sit them down, and take a few quick shots of each family. Well...we did manage to get a couple posed shots, but overall, the kids had other plans, and I'm so glad they did :) Playtime was much more fun, and candids are our favorites anyway.
