family portraits at old silver beach

We had a blast shooting family portraits last weekend at Old Silver Beach in Falmouth! It was a fundraiser for North Falmouth Elementary School, so thank you to everyone who signed up! The weather was a little colder than everyone would have liked, and it rained a bit on and off throughout the day, but the families that decided to come anyway were troopers and we ended up getting some awesome pictures. There were times when we had to dance around and do jumping jacks to warm up :)

It was wonderful meeting all of these gorgeous, loving families, and besides being beyond cute, the kids were a lot of fun to hang out with! Here are a few of my favorites from the day...

lucy, charlotte, their amazing mommy, and "baby brother" (coming soon)

Finally we are getting some beautiful spring weather on the Cape! My gorgeous, pregnant friend Beth put her adorable daughters Lucy and Charlotte into their party dresses and we headed to the beach. Lucy and Charlotte are so fun to hang out with- they are full of personality! Lucy loves being a big sister. She was more than happy to hold Charlotte's hand when we asked her to, but Charlotte showed her independent side. Beth is one of my fabulous second shooters and is usually behind the camera, so we were both happy to get her into some pictures with her daughters. I am always impressed with how awesome she is at being a mom, especially now when she has another baby on the way...a boy! Yay! Despite the glorious belly doing its best to slow her down, she is a supermom...check out the slideshow to see her in action.

shooting with kjeldm at the red lion inn

A few months ago, I was lucky enough to tag along with Kjeld and Melissa of Kjeldm Photography while they shot Meghan and Ryan's wedding at the Red Lion Inn in Cohasset. It was a beautiful winter wedding, and I had fun second shooting for Kjeld and Melissa, who were my wedding photographers when I was married on St. John last year. Check out their blog at kjeldm.com/blog and search back to June 2007 to see my wedding slideshow- they did an amazing job capturing my day!

Here are a few of my shots from Meghan and Ryan's wedding...my favorite is the one of them peeking out from the closet to watch their bridal party being introduced while they were waiting for their own introduction as husband and wife.

destination weddings

Attention destination brides!!! I am currently offering a discounted price for wedding photography on any weddings in a tropical location in late fall 2008 or winter/spring 2009. The Caribbean, Hawaii, Bahamas...pretty much anywhere warmer than New England is right now! I love living on Cape Cod, and I don't want to live anywhere else, but a few escapes from the many months of cold weather really help get me through to my favorite time of year- summer and early fall.

Email me (khike@hikephotography.com) with your wedding date, location, and as many details as you know so far, and I will send you a customized, discounted price quote for your wedding photography by the Hike girls. I love destination weddings!

a winter wedding in gardner

Sarah and Ryan's wedding at the Colonial Hotel was filled with beautiful, personalized details! The cake had layers of delicious raspberry jam, homemade by Sarah and her mom. The jam also filled the wedding favors- yummy cookies that the wedding photographers and others really appreciated at the end of the night! Sarah is a part time florist, and even though she was busy with other aspects of her wedding, she created all the stunning floral details including bouquets, table arrangements, cake topper, and the wreath hanging over the couple during the ceremony. So impressive! The "ice crystals" in the centerpiece vases were perfect for a January wedding. Talented, and gorgeous too! No wonder Ryan looked so proud and happy all night. He was looking sharp himself! What a fun night...

rehearsal dinner

A rehearsal dinner at a sushi restaurant- what a great idea! Sarah and Ryan brought family and friends to one of their favorite "date" spots to begin their wedding weekend.

chocolate chip pancakes and superhero capes

Does it get any better? Alissa and I treated my cousin Carrie's two gorgeous girls to chocolate chip pancakes with whipped cream and red sprinkles! Then they got to dance off the sugar high wearing beautiful superhero capes, custom designed and handmade by talented Auntie Jessica! Luckily, we got them to sit still for a few minutes to capture some family portraits. Then I took a few shots of Jessica and her man Josh...I just love their chemistry! What a beautiful couple!
