second shooting: nicole and tim

As I am eagerly anticipating this year's wedding season, I'm going to post some images I captured last year while I was second shooting for the awesomely talented Kjeld Mahoney. I will be sharing some of my favorites, focusing mostly on details...when I was planning my wedding, I loved checking out tons of pictures of other people's weddings for ideas on what to do for my own, so here you go brides and grooms! :)

Nicole and Tim's wedding at Wequassett Resort was so fabulous, I wish we could do it all over again! Friendly people, gorgeous details, fun reception...it was perfect! I absolutely love that they decided to do a "first look" before the ceremony. So sweet!

My husband and I did this as well, and I'm so glad- it was a wonderful, emotional moment, and we were able to focus on each other without being nervous about the ceremony procedure or all the guests watching us. Then, when I walked down the "aisle" (on the beach) it was special all over again. The wedding day timeline becomes more relaxed this way, because you can take the bridal party and family pictures before the ceremony, and actually have fun with the process instead of feeling rushed to get to the reception.

Just before the ceremony began:

Beautiful details:

Last minute practice for the first dance...these were not posed- they didn't know that the camera was pointed at them, which makes me love these shots even more!

There's a slideshow of some of Kjeld's pictures from this wedding on his blog (click here) - it's the second post down from the top of the page. Definitely worth checking out!

busy bees

Right now, the rain is pounding on the roof and streaming down the windows, and I can't believe how different today is compared to yesterday. Springtime was in full effect yesterday and I was loving the sunshine. When I was walking in Woods Hole, I felt like the crocuses were calling out to me to take pictures of them- they're so vibrant! As I got closer, I noticed tons of bees, diligently collecting pollen. Photography makes me happy in so many ways, some big, and some small...for instance, in the first picture, I got lucky and captured three bees in focus in the same shot! Yes! I do realize I'm a photography nerd, and I'm okay with that :) If you look closely at the last picture of this series, you can see the pollen on the bee's little legs. Just thought it was cool and wanted to share. Happy Spring!

falmouth hospital breast cancer walk

This past weekend, my family, a few friends and I participated in a fund raising walk for breast cancer patients. It is a beautiful course in Woods Hole, and we lucked out with the weather! My mom organizes a group of us to do this every year. If anyone lives in the area and would like to join in next year, it will be held the first weekend in April. There is a also a six mile run option.

sam

Back to the blogging! Hooray! Tons of potential blog entries, all of which I will hopefully get to in the near future...let's start off with a super duper cutie pie - Sam:

Seriously, how adorable can a baby get?!

He seemed to like having his picture taken and kept throwing out all different kinds of expressions for me - what an adorable little model!

These pictures were taken a few months ago. Luckily, we have another photo session for Sam and his family coming up when the weather gets a little better for outdoor pictures. I can't wait to see how much he's grown and changed! I'm really looking forward to that session and tons of other family portrait sessions that are just waiting patiently for nice weather :)
